Birds or Fireworks?

It looked as if we were going to miss out on Fireworks at Hampton Beach this year due to some piping plovers.  It was a close call, but the federally protected birds have flown the nest according to wmur.com.  If you know me, you know I am obsessed with birds.  The piping plover’s conservation status is ‘near threatened’ and their populations have been on the rise due to some serious conservation efforts.  If you were a piping plover, what better place to call home than Hampton beach?  Unfortunately, that is exactly where the fireworks that were to be in June were canceled.

Fourth of July Fireworks are a Go!

Because the piping plovers have left the nest, the fireworks can resume. There will be a firework show at Hampton Beach and more fireworks shows will continue through the summer in July and August with an end-of-season show on Labor Day.

If you can’t See the Fireworks at Hampton Beach this Year

You can see fireworks in just about any town in New Hampshire this year.  Dover’s fireworks will be on the 4th at 9:15 at Garrison Hill Park.  My adopted hometown of Rochester will be putting on a show at the Rochester Community Center on July 3rd at 9:30 pm.  If you are by Weirs Beach on July 3rd you can see a nice firework show on July 3rd at 11:59 pm.  This is so much better than last year, although my neighbors put on a bit of a show for me, this year we can do it officially.

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.
