I’m about to tell you something that sounds made up… like one of those things you see online and assume can’t possibly be real. But it is real. And it’s right here in New Hampshire.

You can take a day, escape real life for a few hours, and cuddle cows. Actual, lovable, judgment-free cows.

Welcome to Granite Oak Farms, a small local farm tucked into the quietly charming town of Harrisville, perfectly placed between Keene and Peterborough.

No rush. Just back roads, fresh air, and that immediate sense that life is about to slow down a notch.

Granite Oak Farms is open year-round. Whether it’s winter burnout, spring chaos, summer overload, or fall fatigue, cow cuddling is always on the table. And yes, this includes their mini-Highland cows, Biscuit and Barley, who might just steal your heart in under five seconds.

If I ever win the lottery, there will be signs. A field of mini-Highland cows.

This is how they describe it on the website: you (and up to two friends or family members) book a private session with the cow of your choosing. Each cow has their own personality; some are curious, some are extra chill, some are quietly affectionate, but they’re all ridiculously sweet.

You hang out together in their individual space, where you can pet them, brush them, hug them, talk to them, or just sit there and exist. They don’t interrupt. They listen, and they don’t judge.

And if the cow decides to lie down? That’s when the magic really happens. You get to lean in, cuddle up, and feel your shoulders drop as the noise in your head finally quiets down.

I see a road-trip in my future.  What about you?

Cow cuddling isn’t just fun. It’s the kind of calm you didn’t realize you were missing. And honestly? New Hampshire and Granite Oak Farms understood the assignment.
