Multi-platinum, Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has some serious love for Massachusetts.

Last year, he was spotted watching the Celtics play at the TD Garden during their 2024 playoff run.

He even did a pop-up show at the Dubliner in Boston, MA, on St. Paddy's Day just two weeks ago.

Why is Ed Sheeran building a pub in Ipswich, Massachusetts?

According to a Northshow Magazine article and an Ipswich Local News article, the mega-star is opening a pub in Ipswich called "The Old Phone."

This is all breaking this week, and it has been kept very quiet until now.

But why Ipswich, MA?

Sheeran's family moved to Ipswich, England, when he was only three years old. It was in Ipswich where he fell in love with the Ipswich Town Football Club. He eventually became a minority stakeholder in the team in 2024.

So, even though one Ipswich is in England and the other in NEW ENGLAND, it may "feel" or sound like home.

The Old Phone Pub, Ipswich, Massachusetts:

There is a website for the Old Phone Pub already, however, it is very cryptic.

On the website, Sheeran asks locals to text him memories, pictures, and texts from an "old phone" they used to have. Share an old but important memory with him.
