You don’t necessarily have to go to Nashville to find the next country artist worth paying attention to.

Sometimes they're already playing shows right here in New England.

That’s exactly why I’m excited to welcome Eva Ricci to 97.5 WOKQ Sessions this Friday Presented by Newburyport Bank.  If you are interested in joining us Friday, message us on the WOKQ App.

Eva Ricci Is Building Something Right Here in New England

She is a singer-songwriter who has been steadily building her career one show, one song and one new fan at a time.

She’s performed hundreds of shows and has already opened for national country artists including Dylan Scott and Lauren Alaina at Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom.

Her résumé also includes performances at venues and events including the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom, Boston Rodeo and even a performance for the Boston Celtics.

At the same time, she’s been growing an audience online, giving people who may not have caught one of her live shows another way to discover her music.

And that combination... an artist building a real regional following while developing original music... is exactly the kind of thing we want WOKQ Sessions to spotlight.

Why WOKQ Sessions Isn't Just About Nashville

One of the goals behind WOKQ Sessions is pretty simple:

I'm of the mindset that good music deserves a place to be heard.

That includes national artists coming through New England, but it also means paying attention and lisening to what's happening in our own backyard.

WOKQ Sessions is designed to showcase music through local, regional and national discovery, including artists building followings across places like Boston, Portland, Providence, Worcester, Burlington and Connecticut.

And there’s another part of the philosophy that I really love: you don't need a record deal to have a story worth hearing.

That’s important.

Country music doesn't suddenly become good when Nashville discovers it.

There are ridiculously talented singers and songwriters playing clubs, fairs, breweries and songwriter nights all over New England right now.

Part of our job is finding them and introducing them to you.

Get to Know Eva Ricci's Music

Ricci has continued releasing original music as her audience has grown, including “Neutral” and her 2026 release “Good At Goodbye.”

Her music fits comfortably inside modern country while still giving her room to establish her own identity as a singer-songwriter.

And Friday gives us the chance to strip all of that down.

Before her WOKQ Sessions performance, Eva will join Garret & Katie in the WOKQ studio Friday morning to talk, sing and introduce herself to New Hampshire country listeners.

Later that morning, she’ll step onto the Sessions stage for an intimate performance in front of WOKQ listeners and staff.

Here's Why You Should Pay Attention Now

There’s something fun about discovering an artist before the rest of the world catches up.
Maybe Eva Ricci becomes a name you eventually hear coming out of your speakers every day.

Maybe you see her name climbing higher and higher on festival posters. You see her opening for these amazing artist when she should be headlining her own shows.

Maybe a year or two from now you realize you first heard her in a little room in Dover, New Hampshire.

That's kind of a cool story with Taylor Swift... WOKQ was the very first station to play her music. She came by just knocking on the front door, then the conference room door and we let her in.  (It's a good thing we did)

That's what makes discovering new music fun.

You never really know where the story goes next.

Eva Ricci joins Garret & Katie and performs at 97.5 WOKQ Sessions Friday, October 9.

The next song. The next artist. Right here.

If you have an artist or band in mind that would be a good fit for WOKQ Sessions... Message us on the WOKQ app or email me garret.doll@townsquaremedia.com
