Famous Daytime Actor Calls It Quits After 37 Years [PHOTOS]
It's a wrap for one of the best-known soap opera actors of all time.
After playing Luke Spencer for 37 years, actor Anthony Geary is calling it a career.
I was an avid fan of General Hospital in the 80's. As a matter of fact, I still remember running home from school to make sure I didn't miss a minute of Luke and Laura's wedding.
Apparently, I wasn't the only one that found that must-see TV. Some 30 million viewers watched the two exchange vows, making it the largest audience in daytime television history. Through the years, the characters of Luke and Laura had two children, but grew apart and finally divorced on the show in 2001.
'Luke's' latest love interest is Tracy Quartermaine (played by Jane Elliott, who in real-life is Geary's best friend).
Over the course of his General Hospital career, he won a record 8 Daytime Emmy Awards. Geary says he plans to move to Amsterdam and write a book and pursue theatre projects.
Even though I haven't watched GH in years, I feel a bit sad knowing Luke will no longer be in Port Charles.
