Old Farmer’s Almanac Forecasts ‘Wet and Stormy’ Winter for New Hampshire
When I hear we are going to have a mild Winter in New Hampshire my first instinct is to shout "YAY" from the mountaintops. However, mild Winters in New England raise larger concerns around climate change and the future of our planet as we know it. (not to get all dooms day on you!)
Last Winter (2023) was unseasonably warm in New Hampshire. Throughout December, January, and February, temperatures reached into the 40s and 50s°F on several occasions. This bummed a lot of people out especially those who head to our mountains for skiing and snowboarding; conditions were absolute trash! The warm temps also made it impossible for lakes and ponds to stay frozen; so much for ice fishing, pond hockey and ice skating!
The unseasonably warm Winter and lack of snowfall also confused wildlife and caused some animals to come out of hibernation before they normally would! Now we're messing with the whole ecosystem.
So what can we expect for Winter 2024-2025 in the Granite State?
The Old Farmer's Almanac Winter Prediction for 2024-2025
If you believe in long term predictions and forecasts you might be in for some pretty unfortunate news. According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, New Hampshire should prepare itself for a wet and stormy Winter with above-normal amounts of precipitation. Temperatures are predicted to be near to above normal and Farmer's Almanac states we can expect our first Winter storm in early December.
