Garelick Farms announced it is closing their factory in Lynn, Massachusetts, which means hundreds of people will be losing their jobs.

According to an article in the Boston Globe, the factory, located on the Lynnway will close this coming fall.

Dean Foods, the parent company of Garelick Farms, blamed the closure of the manufacturing plant on falling milk sales. Garelick, which is a 90-year-old milk and dairy company, is the seventh largest employer in Lynn, Massachusetts. Approximately 300 workers are expected to lose their jobs. Garelick Farms first opening in 1928 as West Lynn Creamery.

Dean Foods, one of the country's largest dairy operators along with Garelick Farms also includes Cumberland Farms, Nature's Best Dairy, Land O' Lakes and TruMoos as well as Friendly's ice cream products sold in stores.
