What is the ‘Green Mile’ in Maine?
Over the weekend I was driving through Elliot, Maine, on Route 236 when I realized I had seen about 10 weed dispoensaries.
I don't know if that is the real number... but it felt like a lot.
Now, I have been to East Coast Cannabis, on Route 236, a few times, so I knew there was at least one, but my gosh there are a lot more than one now.
I mean there are dispensaries with other dispensaries as neighbors. As I was chuckling at all of the available weed on this road, my wife ever so calmly said, "Well that is why they call it the 'green mile.'"
Um. WHAT?
This is a thing? Turns out, it is.
The "green mile," which is becoming much longer than one mile, is the stretch on Route 236 where there are more cannabis dispensaries than homes and other businesses.
Another exaggeration, but there really are a ton.
You would think that these businesses would want to open somewhere else; however, when you think about the location, it is pretty ideal.
It is only 5 minutes off the highway that brings New Hampshire to Maine...
Perhaps if New Hampshire would legalize it fully, the money Granite Staters are spending in Maine would stay in the 603... hint hint hint.
If you are new to the cannabis game, take a drive on the "green mile" - route 236 in Elliot, Maine - I'm sure you'll find something you are looking for.
