Hearty Sandwiches on the Go? The Takeout Station Opens in Exeter, New Hampshire
This place looks absolutely awesome! The Takeout Station has only been open in Exeter, New Hampshire, for a month, but every time they post a photo of one of their sandwiches, it cues my belly to begin a symphony of grumbles.
I took a peek at their menu, and they offer such a wide variety of sandwiches. They have Shawarma, a Cuban, a Korean chicken sandwich, and more.
Just feast your eyes on this creation. According to their Facebook, they call her the "The queso picado aka chopped cheese.” It has Mexican ground beef, queso sauce, lettuce, pico de gallo, and plantain crumble all in their silly philly roll (what makes their philly roll so silly? you'll just have to try it and see for yourself!).
A few weeks ago, they had this Southwestern Panzanella, which had chipotle lime grilled chicken, lettuce, grilled corn, tomato, cojita cheese, and garlic croutons in chili lime vinaigrette. Are you watching your carbs? Many of their sandwiches are available in salad form, so just ask.
Why is it called the Takeout Station? Well, that's because the restaurant is located at the train station in historic downtown Exeter, New Hampshire. Their food is quite literally OFF THE RAILS. That's a little train humor for ya.
If you are a commuter or just visiting downtown, The Takeout Station is the perfect place to grab a hearty sandwich or salad on the go.
While we're on the topic of sandwiches, my go-to sandwich is a grilled cheese. Let's see who does my favorite sandwich in the world the best in New Hampshire:
