Fire, fireworks, and propane do not mix well.

On Sunday, December 22, 2024, those three things made a terrifying scene in Spencer, Massachusetts.

The exact cause of the fire is unknown, but it was something out of a movie.

A house fire is devastating, but the devastation grows when it expands, or in this case explodes, to nearby houses.

Below is a very chaotic video, but that is what happened: chaos.

You will see two houses on fire, exploding propane tanks, and an array of exploding fireworks.

See the video below from WBZTV:

As I have said, this is something out of a movie - it does not even seem real.

But it was real, and it was really scary. Fortunately, no one was hurt. Perhaps the most interesting part of this fire is how it started... unknown.

Did the fireworks start the fire? Or did the fire set off the fireworks?

This scary video and situation is a good reminder of a few things.

What to do if your neighbor's house is on fire?

The obvious: call 911. Get out of the house. Notify other neighbors. This one was interesting... stay away from windows.

If a house nearby is on fire, the heat could cause windows in other houses to explode. So stay away.

And this should always be said - check your batteries in your smoke detectors.
