Every year this happens- the weather gets warmer.....and people go for an unexpected swim.

Last week we posted a story about a sunken Bob House on a lake in Brookline.  Every year stories like this indicate that it may be time to end the ice fishing season.  Apparently these folks in Brookline learned this lesson the hard way.

Such was not the case down in Pittsfield, MA where WCVB reports that firefighters responded to the same person falling through the ice in only a matter of a few minutes.

It all happened at Pontoosuc Lake in Pittsfield.  Initially the call came in for two people falling through the ice, but when first responders arrived the two had made it to shore safely. (Whew.....that's where the story ends right?  Sadly no.....)

Responders at the scene were relieved to see the pair had made it safely but apparently one of the fisherman decided it would be a good idea to go back out and attempt to retrieve some gear (despite the fact that officials told him not to.)

Fortunately the first responders were already on the scene and he was rescued by two firefighters using a wetsuit and rescue sled.  Stupid.  Really stupid.

Moral of the story?  At some point we all have to wait for next season.  We all have our seasonal hobbies.  I love my Harley Davidson, but you won't see me on it in a snowstorm.
