Does This Tiny Eatery Really Serve the Best Thai Food in Maine?

Here in Maine, we are blessed by the number of amazing restaurants we have.

And, we are lucky to have such a variety to choose from.  In most Maine towns, you'll find places serving up steak, seafood, pasta, tacos, sushi, lo mein, and more.

What about Thai food?  Who has the best Thai cuisine in Maine?

Saeng Thai House in Portland, Maine

Recently, the Love Food website put out their list of the best Thai restaurants in each state.

For Maine, they choose Saeng Thai House.

The small eatery, which is located in a small repurposed house on Congress Street in Portland, has been serving amazing Thai food for over three decades.

The website for the restaurant, which opened in 1993, says, in part:

Our dishes are made using the same recipe that the owner herself used when she opened up her first restaurant in Thailand; therefore, ensuring that every bite will enlighten the palette with an authentic taste of Thai. Many of our customers have been to Thailand, and they continue to return to our restaurant; they tell us that it’s like being back in Thailand without paying the expensive ticket price!

A look at their menu shows many items that are familiar to lovers of Thai cuisine.  Dumplings, spring rolls, Tom Yung Koong, Pad Thai, and Drunken Noodles, for example.

The eatery also serves up some dishes unique to Saeng Thai House.  These include BBQ Duck, Tamarind Duck, and Crispy Garlic Soft Shelled Crab.

The restaurant is open from 11 AM to 3 PM for lunch and 4 PM to 8 PM for dinner.  They are closed on Tuesday
