Sherman’s Maine Coast Book Shops is expanding.
Is it just me, or do you notice actual books making a comeback? Sure, you still have audiobooks, but reading a soft or hard-covered book is in. If you are hopping on the trend, there's no better place than Sherman's Maine Coast Book Shops. Their 10th location is coming to Saco, Maine next to Shaws in the Saco Village Shopping Center.
Sherman's Maine Coast Book Shops is the oldest bookstore in Maine?
It is! Saco Bay News pointed out that not only are they the oldest bookstore in Maine, but one of the ten oldest in the entire country! Sherman’s was founded in Bar Harbor in 1886 by William Sherman. Sherman’s Maine Cost Book Shops is one of the 10 oldest bookstores in the country.

With locations in Bar Harbor, Damariscotta, Boothbay Harbor, Freeport, Rockland, Topsham, Windham, Falmouth, Portland, and soon Saco, you have no excuse not to visit a store. They are open all year, seven days a week. They keep expanding because of their own philosophy on their website,

When is Sherman's Maine Coast Book Shops opening in Saco, Maine?
Saco Bay News reached out to the owner, Jeff Curtis who responded they hope to be open sometime this spring in April or May. They picked the Saco Village Shopping Center because it's more convenient with plenty of parking. You'll notice that the older Sherman's are in downtown settings. Portland's is right in the Old Port. Sure it's not convenient for parking, but it's such a great store.
While businesses are closing every day in Maine, it's refreshing to see Sherman's expanding! Welcome to Saco, Maine!
