Fall in Maine is filled with colorful changing leaves, delicious cider donuts, winding corn mazes, and massively huge pumpkins.

Every year, growers are vying to take the title of the biggest pumpkin in the state, and some really gigantic ones have landed on the top 10 list.

You might even be surprised to know that the largest pumpkin is much heavier than a cow and nearly as heavy as a small car. So, good luck picking that up.

How Big Are the Largest Pumpkins in Maine?

Let's just say that when it comes to the biggest pumpkins, these aren't your typical ones hanging out on the porch waiting to be carved for Halloween.

We're talking pumpkins that on the top 10 list are pushing well past 1,000 pounds.

Another wild thing is that only four Mainers have grown all the pumpkins currently in the top 10 as of 2025. These guys must love battling it out to try and get the biggest one year after year.

The CBS 13 meteorologist shared on his Facebook page in 2024 his excitement for the super-sized win and thanked the Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta, the Maine Pumpkin Growers Organization, his friends and neighbors for helping with the tractor and trailer to get the pumpkin there, and a "special thanks to my family for putting up with this stuff."

The images of the huge pumpkins are mesmerizing when compared to how big any people in the photos are.

It will certainly be exciting to see the Maine tradition of growing these monsters continue into the years ahead... and maybe some new records will take place as well.
