The amazing thing about New England is there is constantly some form of help happening throughout the region.

During any calendar year, there are charity events to help raise toy donations for Toys for Tots or school supplies for local schools by 'stuffing buses' or 'jamming vans.' There are online auctions or telethons to help raise money for food banks throughout New England.

One of the more popular avenues to put on a charity event, though, especially during the warmer months, is a charity golf tournament. There are certainly no shortage of golf tournaments in New England, and one happening in August 2024 is geared toward helping some of the area's most vulnerable youth.

Dover Children's Home

Located on Locust Street in Dover, New Hampshire, the mission of the Dover Children's Home (DCH) includes:

[a commitment] to providing high-quality support and services to some of New Hampshire’s most vulnerable and valuable youth and their families.

DCH helps these vulnerable youth by constantly giving them the tools and support to heal through any traumas they've faced and build a solid, dependable community through housing, education, and more.

And as if helping the healing process isn't hard enough, there is a constant struggle (as we all know with living our everyday lives) to maintain the funds to do so.

And that's where channeling your inner Happy Gilmore comes in.

Dover Children's Home Golf Tournament

While they're known for their epic bowl-a-thon fundraiser every spring, for the last 15 years, Dover Children's Home has also been putting together a charity golf tournament to raise funds for the kiddos they serve every year as well.

The 16th annual Dover Children's Home Golf Tournament takes place at The Links at Outlook in South Berwick, Maine, (which neighbors Dover) on Monday, August 12.

Aside from hitting the links for a round of 18 at one of New England's most beautiful courses, participants will also have their shot to win prizes with various contests throughout the tourney for the longest drive, closest to the pin, separate putting contests and more.

Add that to the silent and live auctions that will be taking places, raffle giveaways, and the lunch banquet that will be provided, and it's a solid excuse to take a day off of work, do some good, and hopefully win some good as well.
