Lewiston, Maine’s Most Famous Native Returning Home to Help Raise Money
People Magazine named Patrick Dempsey the Sexiest Man Alive, and just a couple of days later, he heads straight to his hometown of Lewiston, Maine, to help.
On Tuesday night, Patrick Dempsey was on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and talked about FINALLY being picked as People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive. He said his family laughed when he told them. That humble, handsome Mainer will be returning to Lewiston this weekend to support families of the victims of last month's mass shootings, according to WMTW.
He will be playing softball with the first responders when they play at the Randall Road Ball Fields in Lewiston. Patrick knows he can be a distraction, and wants to focus on the victims and why they are playing softball – to raise money to help. Because of that, he won't be speaking with the media on Saturday.
It's going to be a great tournament, with a total of 25 teams and a mix of teens and adults. It all starts at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday at Randall Road and Pettengill Park in Auburn. It will be a day of fun with vendors, food trucks, and raffles with some eye candy: Patrick Dempsey.
The organizers Derek Haskell and Chase Cote knew shooting victim Ron Morin. He was often an umpire, and was killed when the gunman opened fire at Schemengees Bar and Grille.
Patrick Dempsey could do a million things this weekend, and he chose to come to Maine to help. He's just as nice and classy as he is handsome, and we are proud to have him call Maine his home.
Money raised this weekend will go to the Lewiston Auburn Chamber of Commerce, and later be given to the victim's families.
