It's been a go-to for many of us for years, whether we're new to an area or are exploring new places to eat, stay, etc. that are close by but also not the usual local spots we hit up -- TripAdvisor.

TripAdvisor literally has reviews of anything you could possibly be curious about -- restaurants, bars, hotels -- plus, hookups with cheap flights to different destinations. And since everything on the site is basically made up by first-hand customer reviews, there are times they put those reviews together to come up with different lists.

Best Hidden Gem Restaurants

TripAdvisor put together a list of the best hidden gem restaurants across the United States, and to the shock of no one, Maine made the list. Ranked pretty highly, obviously. Not exactly high enough, but we'll get to that in a second.

The Travelin Lobster in Bar Harbor, Maine

According to the TripAdvisor list of best hidden gems, The Travelin' Lobster in Bar Harbor, Maine, ranks #18 in the entire country. And truthfully, it's really no surprise this hot spot made the list.

Fresh lobsters on the daily, lobster bisque and clam chowder served in a bread bowl, lobster grilled cheese panini, raw bar, lobster bake -- you name it, The Travelin' Lobster's menu has it.

In fact, it's one of the go-to spots for people from away during tourist season, which makes its placement on the list a little wonky. Maine is literally synonymous with lobster and seafood. Ask anyone, and that's the one of, if not, the first thing that comes to mind.

Which is why it makes almost no sense that, on that same TripAdvisor list, a Tennessee seafood restaurant -- Riverfront Seafood Company -- was just shy of the top spot, landing at #2.

Tennessee is a landlocked state. River is in the name of that restaurant. Maine borders the ocean. Make it make sense!

Congratulations to The Travelin' Lobster on getting its flowers as one of the best hidden gem restaurants in the entire country, but you deserved better. You don't deserve just a bouquet, you deserve the entire freakin' flower shop.
