The charming seaside town of Kennebunkport, Maine, is once again gaining national attention.

The iconic pop culture magazine BetMGM recently named Kennebunkport the 4th coziest town in America for a Christmas getaway. That's quite the honor for the small York County town, which always seems to find its way onto these lists.

BetMGM analyzed numerous categories to reach its findings, including snowfall totals, local venues, accommodations, and average temperatures. The scores were then totaled to determine which towns had the highest "Cozy Christmas" score. You can read more about the methodology here.

After all of that, Kennebunkport found itself sitting at number 4 in the entire country. That is a pretty great result to say the least. Here's some of the highlights from BetMGM's findings.

In fourth place with an overall cozy Christmas score of 53.38, Kennebunkport, Maine, also features:

  • The second-highest average December snowfall at 10.5 inches.

  • The third-lowest average temperature at 29.5°F.

  • The fewest theatre events in December.

BetMGM clearly loves Kennebunkport's winter climate, and it's likely the biggest reason the town earned such a high ranking. And what's not to love? The cool temperatures create the perfect holiday vibe in a town that sits beautifully on the coast.

And, who cares if Kennebunkport has the fewest theater shows. The theater is the entire town, especially when we are talking about Christmas Prelude. Kennebunkport's signature event has been going strong ever since it began back in 1983. The annual festival has a wealth of activities like tree lightings, holiday events, village-wide holiday decor, markets, and outstanding food and beverages.

Even if you're not attending Christmas Prelude, the beautiful town is an absolute must-visit during the holiday season. The area truly embraces the holiday spirit in the perfect way, while still maintaining its coastal Maine charm. Plus, there's some great coastal Maine shopping to enjoy.

Congratulations to Kennebunkport on this well-deserved ranking and publicity. It is truly deserving, indeed

2. Park City, Utah - A spectacular location, especially for the skiers
3. Denver, Colorado - The highest ranked city, as well.
