Britney Spears Spent 3 Weeks at Rehab in Small Maine Town

For nearly three decades, one of the most recognizable celebrities in the world has been Britney Spears.

Spears has sold more than 150 million copies of her records worldwide and is responsible for 14 different top-10 hits in America.

And yet, despite all of her professional successes, Britney Spears personal life and the demons she's battled has been the focus of her fans' attention over the last decade or so.

Britney Spears Was Arrested For Driving Under The Influence in March

Despite her music icon status, 44-year-old Britney Spears has had a few run-ins with law enforcement.

In March, she was pulled over and subsequently arrested in Ventura County, California for driving under the influence after showcasing erratic behavior.

For many of Spears' followers on social media, her arrest didn't come as a surprise. Spears had been posting videos regularly where she seemed disheveled and under the influence for months in advance of her arrest.

Britney Spears Checked Herself Into a Rehab Facility Located in Camden, Maine

Typically, A-list celebrities like Britney Spears would end up at a rehab facility in Malibu, California.

Spears decided to traverse the country and check herself into the Borden Cottage rehab facility in Camden, Maine.

Borden Cottage bills itself as a luxury retreat for treatment of substance abuse as well as mental health recovery.

According to Yahoo, Spears spent roughly three weeks at Borden Cottage before checking herself out and returning to California.

On May 4, Spears pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of reckless driving and was sentenced to 12 month probation by a California court.
