Why There Have Been Less Humpty Chips on Store Shelves in Maine
For just about 80 years, Humpty Dumpty potato chips have been part of Maine snack culture.
Most people who grow up in the state end up falling in love with at least one Humpty Dumpty flavor, from their version of BBQ or salt n' vinegar to more unique flavors like ketchup or all dressed.
But over the past few months, that snack staple has been more difficult to find on store shelves across the state of Maine.
And there's one specific reason why.
A Packaging Shortage is The Problem For Humpty Dumpty Chips in Maine
According to a social media post, one of the biggest reasons you may be seeing less Humpty Dumpty potato chips on store shelves revolves around their distinct bags.

There has been a packaging shortage from the supplier to Humpty Dumpty, leaving the chip company unable to deliver as much product to stores as they typically would.
That packaging shortage has primarily caused problems with the largest-sized Humpty Dumpty chip flavors as well as the smallest-sized snack bags.
Humpty Dumpty Expects to Return in Full to Maine Store Shelves Soon
There have been a lot of rumors swirling as to what the cause of the Humpty Dumpty shortage has been in Maine and whether or not the chip brand was being phased out.
The Humpty Dumpty chip brand is owned by Minnesota-based Old Dutch Foods which manufactures their potato chips in Canada. Some believed that the shortage on store shelves was caused by issues related to tariffs involving the United States and Canada.
That isn't the case. In fact, Humpty Dumpty chips should be returning to store shelves across Maine in near full stock before the end of the year.
