In Eliot, Maine, one of standards in the town for more than two decades has been the Shipyard Brew Pub. But several factors have led to the decision to close that space permanently.

Over the past couple of weeks, there have been a handful of restaurants around Maine that have announced their closing. Many of those restaurants have cited financial issues as a key reason.

The same can be said for Shipyard Brew Pub in Eliot, Maine. In their social media message, Shipyard pointed toward the increasing costs involving food, labor, fuel and just general operational costs.

On top of those operational costs, Shipyard Brew Pub explained that an agreement with the town of Eliot hadn't been fulfilled by the town, adding to the financial struggle that the restaurant faced.

Shipyard Brew Pub Hopeful Something New With Take Over Space in Eliot, Maine

While the closing of the Shipyard Brew Pub in Eliot, Maine, will take place on Monday, August 31, there is hope that something else will take over the space in the future.

The Regatta Banquet center and the Shipyard commissary kitchen will continue operations and ownership remains optimistic that a new hospitality business may view the space at 28 Levesque Drive as a potential home.
