Popular Newburyport, Massachusetts, Bakery Closing Retail Store for Good
Well, this is a bummer.
Dianne's Fine Desserts is closing up it's retail store on 4 Graf Road in Newburyport, Massachusetts, for good.
The announcement was made on their Facebook page.
In the Facebook post, they talked about how they are aware how their role is an important one in the community, so they are going to stay open until December 23, 2024, which will take us through the holiday season so you can order all the cheesecakes and chocolate cakes that your heart desires until that date.
Dianne's Bakery May Be Growing
The decision to close the retail store was made as a business strategy. It sounds like they are growing the business and making desserts at a larger scale for "restaurant and foodservice operators across North America." Did someone say, "Olive Garden?" No, no one said that, I'm just thinking that might be one of the chains that will be serving Dianne's cakes.
Even though there are people who will be out of a job in the retail store, they did say in the post that the company is excited about growth opportunities and are going to hopefully be a big employer for the community.
It is not clear where we will be able to get Dianne's delectable desserts, however, they did elude to the fact that they will be in our "favorite neighborhood or national chain restaurants." I do have a call into them to see if they have any other information, but at the time of this writing, I have not heard anything.
It must be disappointing for the people who work at the bakery. I am certain that they love their job. How could you not? You work with frosting and delicious cake!
All the best to the Company. Growth is exciting, even though it means that we can't walk into the shop to grab a cupcake.
