Man Takes Axe to HVAC System in Seabrook, NH, Basement

A man allegedly used an axe to damage the HVAC system in the basement of a Seabrook home Tuesday night.

The owner of a home on Hooksett Street called Seabrook Poice when he heard banging noises coming from his basement around 10:30 p.m. Officers sent K-9 Henry, who encountered Joshua Pelletier, 31, of Kittery, holding an axe.

Pellletier refused orders to drop the axe, but officers and K-9 Henry were eventually able to convince him to comply. He was charged with burglary, criminal mischief, and criminal trespassing. He was held overnight at the Rockingham County Jail and scheduled for arraignment Wednesday.

Police did not disclose a motive for Pelletier's behavior.

Pellletier was believed to be under the influence of Methamphetamine at the time of the incident.

“Today, I am especially proud of the responding Officers and K-9 Henry, who de-escalated a potentially lethal situation and brought this incident to peaceful resolution. Our officers put themselves in harm’s way everyday protecting the Seabrook community. This incident highlights their dedication and resolve to protect life and property," Seabrook Police Chief Brett Walker said in a statement.
