John Cena hails from West Newbury, Massachusetts, and whenever he comes back to this neck of the woods, we practically throw a parade. He is so gracious to all of his fans, and that's what we love about him. The poor guy can't even go to Walmart in Seabrook without someone snapping a pic:

He is definitely one of the biggest stars to come out of this area, and it is so refreshing to see that he never forgot where he came from.

John was recently a guest on one of my favorite podcasts, "Armchair Expert". I am what they call a proud "arm cherry", as I never miss an episode:

This episode was peppered with tons of references to the North Shore of Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire, and it was so fun to hear!

Of course, Cena shouted out his hometown of West Newbury, Massachusetts, where he and his four brothers called home. He mentioned that when he was growing up, there was no youth football in West Newbury. So the first time he put on a pair of pads was at 15 years old, and he had to make up for lost time.

He also mentioned that his dad started the drama club at the community college in Beverly, Massachusetts. His parents met when his dad was directing a local production of A Streetcar Named Desire.

An episode highlight for me was when he mentioned the dudes he would see hanging out on Hampton Beach when he was growing up. He channeled traits from those jabronis when he had to play a villain in the WWE. He wanted people to feel like punching HIM in the face. John Cena would be comforted to know that after all of these years, those tough guys are still there hanging out on Hampton Beach.

Our guy John Cena was on the podcast to promote his movie Ricky Stanicky, with Zac Efron. If you haven't had a chance to watch it yet, I highly recommend it!

Thanks for all the hometown love, John! You make us so proud.
