According to the Seaside Inn website, the inn has been around since at least 1660, just 40 years after the Mayflower arrived.

To add to their impressive stats, The Distracted Wanderer notes that the Seaside Inn is the 46th oldest family-run business in the world.

The current innkeepers are Tish and Ken Mason. Seaside Inn has been in their family since 1756, that's an impressive 9 generations dating back to Trish's great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather Jedidiah Gooch. And yes, that's the family Gooch's Beach was named after.

According to The Distracted Wanderer, John Gooch (a relative of Jedidiah, perhaps an uncle) was the OG Gooch. He was asked by an agent for King Charles II to assist ferry travelers across the Kennebunk river and since the travelers oftentimes needed a place to lay their heads the Inn was born.
