WHOA! So I am back from Spain and it was such an amazing time. I am grateful we were still able to make this trip happen. We planned it before my husband's accident and weren't sure if we would be able to swing it. Shout out to our college friends who helped me push Steven in his wheelchair, especially up the hills. It turns out Madrid is as hilly as San Francisco! (ps: I've never been to San Fran so I don't know if that's really true) He rented this sweet and sassy motorized scooter in Barcelona so for part of the trip, he was riding in style.

The first five days we spent in Barcelona. It is a beautiful city with beachy vibes, it reminds me of a more historic Miami. On our second day, we visited the "Sagrada Familia" which is a gorgeous church that they started building in the late 1800s and it's still not done yet! What's taking so long, right? It doesn't help that the architects keep dying. It should be completed by the year 2026, so they say.

While in Barcelona we took a cooking class where we learned to make Paella and a bunch of other customary Spanish dishes.

One day we took a sailboat ride. The weather was gorgeous and the sea was pretty calm. We ate tapas and swam in the ocean. It was probably my favorite day!

Then it was off to Madrid! It is more inland and therefore hotter temperature-wise but it didn't stop us from doing some sweaty sightseeing.

The highlight of Madrid for me was seeing a Flamenco show. Flamenco is a style of Spanish music and dance. Think the emoji on your iPhone of the woman dancing in a red ruffled dress. I bet she is a Flamenco dancer. Here I am trying to be one:

Shortly after this photo was taken I was yelled at in Spanish by a man who worked at the theater. Translation: "GET OFF THE STAGE!!" I listened.

What a great trip. I wish I had a little more time to explore Madrid and see Grenada and Naples but now I have a reason to go back. :)

HASTA LUEGO ESPANA!
