Well here's a bit of sad news for New Hampshire's capital city. According to the website newhampshirerestaurantreviews.com, the Friendly's restaurant on North Main St. in Concord, New Hampshire will be closing for good soon. The message on the sign in front of the building now reads "CLOSING OCT. 20TH SUPPORT OUR FRIENDLY'S FAM."

I called the restaurant to confirm the news. The gentleman I spoke with said that the restaurant is in fact closing. He said he didn't know anything about any future plans for the building.

This is a tough one for me personally. I grew up in Concord, and I remember my grandfather, who lived right up the street, taking me there for breakfast as a kid. It's a shame that I'll never be able to walk in there again.

According to the Bangor Daily News, Friendly's has closed more than 100 locations, since filing for bankruptcy in 2011. In Maine, the only remaining Friendly's is in South Portland, near the Maine Mall.
