Iconic Louie’s Restaurant in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Finally Reopens 8 Years After Fire
For real this time! Louie's in Portsmouth is finally open. Your table awaits.
If you recall, in 2017, a major fire forced Louie's to close. The State Street Saloon building was destroyed and Louie's also sustained major fire and water damage. There have been many times we thought they would re-open, but for one reason or another, they haven't, until now.
Louie's has now reopened in Portsmouth's West End and their new space is beautiful.
Spring of 2025 Re-Open Didn't Quite Happen
At that time, they were excited that the long awaited opening may happen.
We’ve had our sights set on this day for nearly 10 years—it is with great excitement that we announce the return of Louie’s to Portsmouth! This spring, doors will open at our new home: 909 Islington Street in the West End.
Some of the comments on the Insta post were very happy that the restaurant is coming back.
This is such great news!!! We’ve missed you but Carriage House has been outstanding. Congratulations!! See you soon!
Louie's is worth the wait.
The Carriage House is the same owner as Louie's, so you didn't have to miss out on the great food that they offered. (It's hard to find a place that makes their own amazing pasta! Weird, right? It's not hard.) That restaurant is located in Rye, NH. Another highly recommended place with a beautiful ocean view.
If you love elevated food with a casual vibe, Louie's is the place. The cocktails are amazing and although the food is fancy, you can come as you are and enjoy an amazing dining experience.
Co-owners James and RJ could not be happier that Louie's is back, but I bet they're not as happy as us - the customers who so enjoyed their food.
Welcome back!
