The Tough Reasons Why the Owl’s Head, Maine General Store is Up For Sale
This is a time of big feelings for Maya Sousa, the current Owner of the Owl's Head General Store in midcoast Maine. Maya has many reasons that I will share here of why she is selling it, but belive me when I tell you, it was not an easy decision.
Full disclosure here, Maya is my step-daughter. She is oldest of the three children that my husband had before we met. She bought the OHGS in June, 2020 at 26 years old, after she was looking for what her next chapter would be. She, like so many others in the service industry, was laid off during the pandemic.
When Maya bought the store in June of 2020, it had been closed for almost 3 years. She made the announcement that she was bringing it back to life and it would be open soon. Many renovations were needed to bring everything up to code. The OHGS officially reopened on October 9, 2020. The Community was thrilled.
Since the day that Maya opened the store, she has had a loyal community base. In addition, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, the tourists of Maine kept coming back for the now famous,, award-winning, "7 Napkin Burger."
