Maine Town is Trending on Airbnb for Thanksgiving
I am not surprised to see this town trending on Airbnb as a Thanksgiving destination. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen with my own two eyeballs. I am talking about Bar Harbor, Maine. Steven and I celebrated our two year wedding anniversary there just a few weeks ago. We rented an Airbnb in Northeast Harbor which was lovely. It was about a 20 minute drive to downtown Bar Harbor and most of the hikes we wanted to do. It was a little more affordable for us and we didn't mind the extra drive time.
Boston.com reported that Airbnb released a list of the five Thanksgiving destinations that are trending and Bar Harbor was on the list! It is joined by Kinnakeet, NC, Big Sur, CA, Catkill, NY, and Jackson, WY. They analyzed the site's search and booking data through Nov. 4. These places are great for embracing nature and getting away from crowds which is top of mind this year due to the pandemic. Airbnb said the destinations on the trending list are seeing more than double what they were at this exact time last year!
The CDC recommends that people refrain from gathering with their families this year in an effort to contain the spread of Coronavirus, but will people listen? It's a big ask to not see your loved ones around the holidays. Will you be gathering with your family this year?
