If you've lived in New Hampshire for any amount of time, chances are you've heard someone say, "Are you going to Market Square Day?"

If you are like me, this will be my first time.

On Saturday, June 13, 2026, thousands of people will flood downtown Portsmouth for the annual Market Square Day festival, turning the city's historic streets into one giant outdoor celebration filled with food, music, shopping, and people-watching.

And when we say thousands, we mean it. More than 50,000 visitors are expected to make their way through downtown during the one-day event.

Market Square Day runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, with downtown streets closed to traffic and packed with vendors, local businesses, artists, food trucks, performers, and community organizations.

You can get parking information HERE.

For many people, the day starts with the Market Square Day 10K road race, a Portsmouth tradition that draws runners from across New England. Once the race wraps up, the festival takes over.

One of the best parts about Market Square Day is that there's really no wrong way to do it. Some people spend the entire day browsing vendor booths. Others come for the food. Some are there for the live music. And plenty of people simply grab a coffee, wander around downtown, and soak up the atmosphere.

If you're planning to go, arriving early is probably your best bet. Parking fills up quickly, and traffic around downtown Portsmouth can get congested before lunchtime.

Whether you're hunting for unique handmade goods, looking for your next favorite food truck, or simply searching for something fun to do this weekend, Market Square Day remains one of the biggest and most beloved events on the Seacoast calendar.

For one Saturday every June, downtown Portsmouth becomes the center of the New Hampshire universe... and everyone seems to want to be there, including YOU.
