Gunfire mars Ferguson protest
St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar says a hail of bullets unleashed by two groups in Ferguson, Missouri, are the work of criminals, not protesters. Not long after that gunfire that sent protesters ducking for cover, a man opened fire on police officers and was critically wounded. The gunfire erupted during a protest on the anniversary of the shooting death of unarmed black 18-year-old Michael Brown by police.

Clinton to talk college costs, debt in New Hampshire stop
Democratic presidential contender Hillary Rodham Clinton is preparing to roll out her plan for expanding access to college and reigning in student debt during a swing through New Hampshire. Clinton is set to discuss her plan, which has yet to be released, during a town hall meeting in Exeter this morning before attending an organizing event in Manchester tonight.

Circus performs 1st shows since deadly tent collapse
The circus that was performing when a severe storm blew down a tent in Lancaster - killing a father and his young daughter - has staged its first shows since the accident, but without a tent. More than 100 people attended the 2 p.m. show in Sanford, Maine. A 4:30 p.m. show was also held. No incidents were reported during the open air shows.
Walker International Events of Sarasota, Florida, has four more shows in Maine.
About 100 people were under the tent at the Lancaster fairgrounds when the storm, with wind gusts up to 75 mph, blew through the area just after 5:30 p.m., causing the tent to collapse A 41-year-old father and his 6-year-old daughter from Concord, Vermont, were killed. Fifty other spectators were injured.
