Virginia State Trooper Killed
Investigators are puzzling over a motive for the shooting death of a Virginia state trooper on a training mission at the Richmond bus station. The shooting began after a brief encounter between the trooper and the gunman, who was shot dead by other officers. Two women civilians were wounded.

Phillips Exeter Academy alumni admits to sexual misconduct
An elite boarding school has alerted alumni that a longtime history teacher has admitted to sexual misconduct with students in the 1970s and 1980s. Phillips Exeter Academy sent an email to alumni this week that Rick Schubart acknowledged the misconduct in both cases, which were reported in 2011 and 2015.

Dartmouth College professor pleads guilty
A Dartmouth College professor has pleaded guilty to possessing videos depicting child sex abuse. Authorities say 49-year-old J. Martin Favor faces up to 10 years in prison when he's sentenced in July. A Dartmouth spokeswoman says Favor remains on paid leave.
