Severe punishment promised for explosions
China's president, Xi Jinping has demanded severe punishment for anyone found responsible for the huge, fiery blasts at a hazardous chemical warehouse at the port of Tianjin. The explosions killed at least 50 people, including a dozen firefighters.
Exeter woman turns herself into police
Police in New Hampshire say the driver of a car that collided with a school bus carrying elementary students has been accused of driving under the influence of drugs. Ashley Compagna of Exeter turned herself in to Durham police yesterday. Police say 31-year-old Compagna crashed into the Oyster River School District bus on May 22 as it was on its way to Mast Way Elementary School in Lee.
Franklin man suffers burn after small explosion
Officials say a Franklin man suffered second-degree burns after a small explosion and fire in the basement of his home. It happened just before 2 p.m. yesterday at his Evergreen Avenue home. Fire officials say he was renovating his house when he accidentally punctured an aerosol can in the basement. This caused fumes to fill up the basement until it was ignited by the gas pilot light.
