Remember Nashua, New Hampshire’s Now Closed Most Beloved Pizza Place?
If you grew up in the Nashua area in the '70's and '80's, chances are, your family went to, what I would describe as, the most beloved (and a little weird) well-known pizza place.
Located in the South end of Nashua on the DW Highway, you found Shakey's Pizza.
Remember Shakey's Pizza Buffett?
Remember the first time you went into Shakey's? They had a PIZZA BUFFETT. I couldn't believe my eyes. You could get several different kinds of pizza and have as much as you want. Brilliant!
Shakey's had the perfect location for high traffic. It was located in the now closed Pizzeria Uno, just at the entrance of the Pheasant Lane Mall.
So many people miss Shakey's. It was a big part of our childhood growing up in Nashua. Here's what a few of my friends said about the place:
I remember it was the first pizza place that served beer and the pizza was excellent. It was such a fun place to go and they gave out Kazoos!
When I was in High School, my boyfriend and I used to cut school and go to the lunch buffet. It was cheap too, only 6.99 all you can eat, including soda refills.
The 3 Stooges were on the TV and you could play them along with the theme song. Doesn't sound great as an adult today, but back then, it was heaven.
Remember the Kazoos at Shakey's in Nashua?
Every kid got a kazoo at Shakey's and it would drive the adults nuts, which is part of the reason why we loved it so much.
Maybe someone should re-open Shakey's. All you can eat pizza, kazoos and the 3 Stooges on the TV? How could it fail?
