New Hampshire Former CEO Goes Viral on TikTok With Three Tips About Your Job
You might think she's an overachiever, however, this former CEO knows how to coach people and definitely a lot about how to be happy in your job or career.
Denise Conroy was CEO (Chief Executive Officer) at Iconic Group, but also CMO (Chief Marketing Officer) at Outdoor Channel, and HGTV prior to the CEO gig. She's a warrior.
She is smart and savvy in marketing, which is why she knows the power of TikTok, like so many other influencers and marketing specialists.
Following the pandemic, Denise moved from Atlanta to Alton, New Hampshire, settling on a 228 acre farm with her husband and three dogs, according to themyllc.com. It was a dream to own a farm with chickens and goats, so they made it happen.
Meanwhile, the dynamic executive started her own company, Themy, LLC, to empower and elevate women to become better and not settle for same old same old. Themy derives from Wonder Woman's mythic place of origin, Themyscira.
The three things she wishes someone had told her earlier in her career:
1.) It's ok to jump jobs. Many feel this leads to instability, but it actually does allow you to get promoted faster whether you move to a new employer, or allows for your current job to counter-offer or give you a promotion.
This seems contrary to what many of us have been taught, but it leads to the next tip.
2.) Loyalty is for your personal relationships, not your company. You owe your company respect and your best performance, but most companies are not loyal to employees anymore, so don't feel you can't leave due to loyalty.
We've all had experience with the third thing Denise Conroy talks about.
3.) People leave jobs because of bad bosses, even if they love their job. Don't be a bad boss. There are two types of the worst leaders: the toxic boss, and the boss that doesn't help you develop your talents, nor gives you credit.
The next time you think about jumping ship, don't worry about loyalty, and lose the bad boss.
