Considering I hadn't ever eaten a bagel until I was 18 and in college, I had no idea what I was missing.   I don't know why we never had bagels, but once I found bagels and lox, I dove in headfirst.

Bagels are a staple to American breakfasts and sandwiches across the country.  Bagels taste great with all kinds of cream cheese, especially New Hampshire-made maple cream cheese.

Bagel shops abound in every town in New Hampshire. Bagel sandwiches are a breakfast favorite with all kinds of eggs, bacon, sausage, and cheeses.

When Betway surveyed thousands of people in America to find out which states love bagels the most, the results were a little surprising.

Three New England states ranked in the top 10 when it comes to bagel consumption, and they are Maine, New Hampshire, and Connecticut.   Maybe we just like our breakfast sandwiches a little heartier than croissants.

New Hampshire is the 7th biggest bagel-loving state in America, with 56% of New Hampshire residents eating a bagel at least two or three times per week.

According to the survey, the most loved bagel in New Hampshire is Sesame (44%), followed by Plain (33%) and Asiago (33%).

As for bagel fillings, Granite Staters prefer cream cheese (78%), followed by bacon, egg and cheese (22%), and ham and cheese (22%).

In general, cinnamon raisin bagels with cream cheese are America's favorite.  Americans spend approximately $400 per year on bagels, so it's definitely a love-fest when it comes to those round delicious hunks.
