The Pope Memorial Humane Society has officially opened on County Farm Road in Dover.

According to fosters.com, this nonprofit center was previously trying to make do in the piggery of an old farm with the addition of a couple of trailers.

Now that the Strafford County Commissioners have leased the nonprofit some county-owned land, the humane society was able to build a brand-new facility.  This group of volunteers that make up the nonprofit have put blood, sweat, and a few tears into the creation of the much-needed facility.  Their most prominent goal is to offer free spay and neuter services to the public, according to the article.  The surgical facilities are top of the line, state of the art.

The Pope Memorial Humane Society should go a long way towards helping pets in need, their owners and the environment.

According to fosters.com, this dream would not be possible without the generous donation of $1 million dollars by Lyman Pope, Jr.

We tip our hats to you, Sir!
