Most New Hampshire Families Don’t Realize This Is Free This Saturday
I thank my parents and friends for getting me outdoors at an early age. Finding my love of fishing. This Saturday Might Be the Cheapest Family Adventure in New Hampshire.
If you're looking for something fun to do with the kids this weekend that doesn't involve spending a fortune, I've got a pretty great idea.
FREE FISHING DAY IN NH THIS SATURDAY
This Saturday, June 6, is Free Fishing Day in New Hampshire, which means you can fish anywhere in the state without needing a fishing license according to the New Hampshire Fish and Game Dept.. How cool is that? Residents and non-residents can both take part, making it one of those rare outdoor activities that's completely free to try.
And honestly, if you've got kids, this might be the perfect excuse to introduce them to fishing.
There's something about standing on the edge of a pond, lake, or river with a fishing pole that slows life down for a minute. No screens. No notifications. Just seeing what happens next. Sometimes you catch fish. Sometimes you catch absolutely nothing. But somehow the kids still end up talking about it all summer.

One of my favorite things about fishing with kids is that they don't really care how big the fish is. Half the fun is exploring the shoreline, looking for frogs, skipping rocks, and asking a million questions. The fishing almost becomes secondary.

If you've been curious about trying fishing yourself, this is a great chance to give it a shot without committing to buying a license first. Just keep in mind that all regular fishing regulations, seasons, and bag limits still apply. Fishing tournaments still require a license.
So grab a couple fishing poles, a container of worms, some snacks, and head to your favorite New Hampshire fishing spot.
You might catch dinner.
You might catch nothing.
But there's a pretty good chance you'll make a memory.
