(Concord, NH) - The New Hampshire Department of Health & Human Services is urging residents to take precautions against multiple diseases carried by ticks.

The tick season is already upon us, and New Hampshire has one of the highest incidents of Lyme disease in the country. The state had an estimated 1373 cases in 2015.

There were also over 170 cases of other tick-borne diseases in New Hampshire in recent years.

There are ways we can reduce our chances of tick bites, including avoiding overgrown grass, brush and leaf litter where tick are more abundant, and using an insect repellent containing DEET when going outside.
