Camp This Summer at New Hampshire’s Oldest, 113-Year-Old Campground
Camping is a New Hampshire must. I started my camping days as a kid because of my parents. They took me all over the White Mountains, along the Saco, and elsewhere in the Granite State.
I knew I loved camping at a young age because of the memorable trips with my family, the scouts, and later in life, the army.
To this day, I am constantly looking up fun or unique campsites to stay at. Although we have our favorite campgrounds and campsites in New Hampshire, we try to find new and special places to stay every summer.
Well, one just got added to my list: the oldest campground in New Hampshire.
This is Camp Tippicanoe. Often referred to as New Hampshire's oldest campground, it's located on the site of the oldest YMCA camp in New Hampshire, according to an Only in Your State article.
Camp Tippicanoe opened in 1911, and is still open for business today. The amenities are much newer now, but this is the old dining hall for the YMCA program that took place there.
Now privately-owned, you can find Camp Tippicanoe at 1295 Brook Road in Goshen, New Hampshire, according to Only in Your State.
Camp Tippicanoe has RV, tent camping, and seasonal camping options too.
And there's one reason it has stayed popular: it is beautiful. Located on Lake Tippicanoe is a spring-fed pond. It is also a mere minutes from Lake Sunapee.
Camp Tippicanoe seems like a perfect family campground with rich New Hampshire history. Between the playground, sandy beach, and views, this historic campground is officially on my list for summer 2024.
