Some of my favorite memories as a kid were family trips to the zoo. I used to love animals. I still do.

I feel like children are so easily entertained by animals. Yes, they are cute; however, there is more to it. Children always seem intrigued to learn about different animals and compare them to humans.

Well, this weekend is a great time for those kids and parents who love animals to get out and make a memory.

Sponsored by the Dead River Company and New Hampshire Electric Co-op Foundation, the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center is holding 'NH Day' this Saturday, May 7, 2022.

New Hampshire residents only have to pay $5 for admission to the trail walk, according to their website.

That trail walk is probably the best three-quarter mile loop you will ever do, and the most memorable for your kids.

"This place is beautiful. Wonderful place to bring your kids to learn about NH wildlife," said Ashley Bailey Guelf in a review in 2019. "The trail is stroller friendly and not too long."

The $5 trail walk includes a bobcat exhibit, coyote exhibit, mountain lion exhibit, white-tailed deer exhibit, river otter exhibit, black bear exhibit, a predator-prey adventure/interactive playscape, a children's center, a songbird feeding station, and much more.

During NH Day, you can also see an "Up Close to Animals" presentation at the Amphitheater at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m, according to their website. "Advance tickets required. Your timed entry tickets allow you to check in any time during the one-hour admission window."
