We Asked NH What’s Overrated… and People Did NOT Hold Back
I feel like every place has that thing…
The one everyone hypes up like it’s life-changing — and then you try it and go,
“Wait… that’s it?”
So naturally, we had to ask.
We threw it out to you — across New Hampshire... a simple (but slightly dangerous) question: What’s the most overrated thing in New Hampshire?
And wow… you did not hold back.
Casey said, "just living here"
Tara's response, "Our Motto 'Live Free or Die', we don't live up to that"
Now before anyone gets fired up, this is all in good fun. No hate, just honest opinions… and honestly, some of these made me laugh out loud because I know exactly what you mean.
From tourist spots… to food… to very specific local traditions… nothing was safe.
From a fun google search, here are a few that I found
"The Kancamagus Highway”
Beautiful? Yeah. Worth sitting in traffic for 2 hours to go 10 miles? Debatable.”
You’ll get a lot of:
“It’s just trees… like the rest of NH”
“Locals avoid it during foliage season like their life depends on it”
“Hampton Beach in the Summer”
This one might be the MOST common answer.
“Wall-to-wall people”
“Parking is a sport”
“It’s fun… once every 5 years”
“Mount Washington Weather Hype”
“Cool story… but you get up there and can’t see anything”
“50/50 chance it’s just a cloud”
(Still iconic… just unpredictable)
“Apple Cider Donuts”
Careful… this one gets people heated 😂
“They’re good… but people act like they’ll change your life”
“It’s a donut… relax”
