Pittsfield, NH’s Free Hot Air Balloon Rally Brings Back Stunning Night Glow Show This July
Taking a ride in a hot air balloon has been sitting at the top of my bucket list for a while now! There's just something magical about watching dozens of colorful balloons float peacefully across the sky. While I haven't checked that experience off my list yet, New Hampshire is offering the next best thing: the return of the Hot Air Balloon Night Glow.
The Suncook Valley Rotary Hot Air Balloon Rally is celebrating its 44th year, and this year's schedule is jam packed with exciting events. As much as I'd love to see the balloons take flight, the Night Glow is the experience I'm looking forward to the most.
More than a dozen vibrant hot air balloons are tethered to the ground and illuminated after sunset, creating a magical display that visitors can walk through and admire from just steps away.
Taking place at Drake Field in Pittsfield from July 31 through August 2, The Balloon Rally is sure to bring a weekend full of family-friendly fun and breathtaking views. Best of all, admission is free!
Weather permitting of course!
Beyond the balloons, the rally offers plenty to do all weekend long, including "a Rotary Pancake & Egg Breakfast, live entertainment, a craft fair, helicopter rides, Touch-a-Truck, Teddy Bear Tethering, Cow Chip Bingo, and the Anything That Floats River Raft Regatta. Guests can also meet the balloon pilots and collect trading cards featuring this year's balloons."
According to Hidden Gems US Travel, the rally is "one of New Hampshire's favorite summer traditions" and has been welcoming balloon pilots and crews from around the country for more than four decades.
The event also serves as the Suncook Valley Rotary's largest annual fundraiser, supporting scholarships and community projects throughout Pittsfield and surrounding communities. As much as I love the idea of seeing dozens of hot air balloons light up the sky, knowing the event also gives back to the local community makes me want to go even more.

Here's hoping this is finally the year I get one step closer to crossing that hot air balloon ride off my bucket list!
Although admission is free, parking is $10 per vehicle. So plan accordingly!
