Plainfield, New Hampshire House That Was Part of a Famous Battle Is on the Market
The housing market is red hot in New Hampshire and a famous house is back on the market in Plainfield, New Hampshire according to realestate.boston.com. You may remember the story of the home that was owned by Ed and Elaine Brown back in 2007. They refused to pay taxes and instead of defending themselves in court when initially charged, they went into lockdown at their home and refused to leave.
Crazy Standoff with US Marshals in 2007
It’s hard to believe it was that long ago but in 2007 Ed and Elaine Brown hunkered down in their house and were cheered on by anti-tax groups and militias in the state. The standoff lasted a shocking eight months! After the Browns surrendered, the U.S. Marshals discovered pipe bombs, weapons, and many explosive devices. The property encompassed 100 acres and federal authorities at the time could not say for certain if there were any remaining explosives or booby traps on the sprawling property and home according to realestate.boston.com.
Where Are They Now?
If you are wondering whatever happened to the couple, Ed Brown is still serving time in prison he still needs to complete more than 16 years of his sentence. Elaine Brown served 12 years for her part in the debacle and has since apologized for her role. The 7,500 square foot home was purchased back in 2019 for a steal at $315,000 but they invested heavily in bringing the home up to livable standards with improvements such as windows, new kitchen and much more. The home can be yours for $1.59 million. It’s a piece of history.
