Most elementary - high school students take a trip to see where America all began. The sad thing is that it is pretty underwhelming and often leaves students disappointed.

Now, for students missing classes for a field trip, the place is "good enough..." but for people all around the world travelling to see this tourist attraction...

The price to travel probably was not worth what you saw.

World's Most Disappointing Tourist Attraction

Many traveling sites, local travel bloggers, etc., have named Plymouth Rock the worst tourist trap in the world. And I get it...it's pretty underwhelming.

Most of us have this preconceived notion that when settling in 1620, the settlers saw a massive boulder the size of Rhode Island. That is not really the case.

But history is not always as we remember. Like those who think the Revolutionary War started at the Battle of Lexington and Concord... NO!

How Big is Plymouth Rock?

The Plymouth Rock tourist attraction, at 79 Water St, Plymouth, MA 02360, is pretty small. And that is the "underwhelming" site.

People joke and call it the "Plymouth Pebble." The original Plymouth Rock, however, was much bigger.

According to a Tammy Tour Guide article, the original rock was a granite boulder 15 feet long and 3 feet wide. In 1774, however, when the people of Plymouth tried to preserve the landmark, it split in two.

From there, every time the rock was moved, it became smaller and smaller.
