It's true.  Dover, New Hampshire, is losing a gem.

Legendary Music Store "Ear Craft Music" is closing after nearly 50 years.  That's a lot of decades to run a successful business, as owners Brian & Stephanie Fischer know.  The Fischer's have decided to retire and close the doors of their beloved store.

Thousands of adults and children have taken music lessons at the store since it opened in 1974. Music education was a big part of the ongoing support for the art of music in the community.

Not Just a Music Store

If you were looking for lessons on the 5-string banjo or the tenor banjo, Ear Craft offered it.  Ukulele lessons more your speed?  They had that too, and voice lessons.  Learn guitar, bass (upright and electric), drums, violin, viola, and cello all in one place.  That's Ear Craft Music.

With rows of sheet music, you could find any song you were looking to play. Ear Craft sold drums, guitars, bass guitars, keyboards, brass & woodwind instruments, amplifiers, and all of the accessories.

Ear Craft Music even carried a Yamaha guitalele.  I don't think even Webster's knows that word, but it's a combo instrument of a guitar and ukulele.  That's creative.

Repairs, rentals, sales, lessons, and anything else you need to play your music, you could find at this ultimate music store.  It will be sorely missed by musicians and the music community.

What's next?

On a Facebook post, the owners say they'll have a huge sale, sell down their inventory over the next weeks and months, and then close for good.  If you have questions, you can reach them at info@earcraftmusic.com.

Here's wishing the Fischer's a happy retirement, and thanks for the memories.
