Popular New Hampshire Seacoast Coffee Shop Closing Its Doors Until Spring
Adelle’s Coffehouse has become the latest of a string of restaurants/cafes on the seacoast that have decided to close their doors for a short time this winter.
The popular Dover haunt announced Tuesday morning via their Facebook page that they would be taking a break until early April, citing concerns for both customers and staff as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to take a toll on area businesses.
The owners and staff are hoping that customers will share their love this Valentine's Day as that will be the last day that the cafe will be operating until at least early April. Folks have until February 14 to place their orders and help the owners clear out current stock.
According to the post, they are looking forward to returning at a time when the weather is more agreeable to customers waiting outside for their coffee, pastries and confections. They are also looking forward to being able to reinstate outside seating, which although limited, helps make customers more comfortable as they wait for their orders.
Although it is a blow to customers that they can no longer purchase their favorite coffee and pastries each day, there are many other businesses that are affected when just one business closes its door for any length of time.
For example, Adelle’s closure has impacted others such as Forty Five Market Street Bakery, which supplies the coffee shop with a fresh supply of muffins, whoopie pies and squares just to mention a few of the favored bites that find their way from downtown Somersworth where the bakery is located to downtown Dover each day.
According to co-owner Celeste Gingras, she completely understands and respects Adelle’s decision to temporarily close.
“COVID-19 is like a cancer that keeps on spreading and many don’t realize the effect it has or the reach,” Gingras told Seacoast Current. “The bakery will once again have to pivot to recover the lost revenue this morning’s news brings.”
Like customers, suppliers and friends alike they will have to wait until April to once again continue a partnership that has benefited both businesses respectively.
Fear not, though, because even if you cannot make it in person the last week before they take their hiatus, you can still get your coffee fix at home as they are planning to fulfill coffee orders and sell beans via their mail-order shop which is located here.
The owners are also planning to be present at the location on Monday mornings in order to fulfill mail-order deliveries and this is when they plan to offer curbside pickup.
