Downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire is one of the most beautiful cities in all of New England.

Sure, the summertime is beautiful on the coast, but I love to show downtown Portsmouth off in the winter, too, and it is solely because of the Puddle Dock Pond in Strawberry Banke.

When people hear that there is an outdoor ice rink in the MIDDLE OF DOWNTOWN PORTSMOUTH, they lose it.

Those are people from outside of Portsmouth though, because the Labrie Family Skate at Puddle Dock Pond has been happening every winter for as long as I can remember.

It is a tradition.

Our Seacoast community is so incredibly lucky to have such well-organized public skates, learn to skates, adult hockey, and other events at Puddle Dock Pond in Strawbery Banke.

If you are unfamiliar with the pond, it looks like this.

With downtown Portsmouth, NH as the backdrop, and the fact that the pond faces the Piscataqua River, it is a scenic ice rink in the middle of a happening city.

If you look closely at the picture you can see a fireplace, and seats, inside of the rink too.

Puddledock Pond offers learn-to-skate sessions, ice hockey, just for kid skates, and more unique ice times. And of course, they have skate rentals, hot cocoa, and a place to warm up inside.

Check out their Facebook page to see the changing weekly schedule at the rink.
