The One App That Will Shock New Englanders Who Fly

Flying in an airplane is as common as driving in a car.  In fact, 44% of Americans fly commercially each year, according to airlines.org.

With only 13% of the country never flying in a plane, that means most Americans have flown and many on a regular basis for work or family.

With millions of people flying all over the country and world, I wondered if there was a reliable app I could follow to see planes taking off and landing.

I did find an accurate and astonishing application which totally blew my mind.

This app not only shows you all the planes in the air, but also the flight number, where it departed from and where it's going, the airspeed, airline, altitude and how many miles it's traveled so far.

It was mesmerizing to watch, and the visual made me realize the thousands of planes in the air simultaneously as the app updates in real time.

These are snapshots of just the Northeast, specifically New England.  Thousands of flights every day, all day and night pass over our skies every minute.  Most of them we cannot see, and many are just passing overhead, shooting for another city outside of New England.

It's astonishing to see how many are in flight consecutively, and in real time on the Planes Live App.  There are flight tracker apps, but I've never seen one as active as Planes Live.

With over 9,700 flights in the air at one time, according to travelandleisure.com it can be overstimulating to watch this flight tracker, but exciting at the same time.
